Non-waterproof protector pads should only be used with a waterproof mattress. They offer excellent absorptive qualities but no
waterproof protection. In the event of an accident, the mattress will likely need to be cleaned. (While this is not difficult with
a damp cloth and some mild soap, it's certainly easier to just throw a pad in the wash and call it a night.)
