Ask Naturepedic: Do Your Mattresses Have Weight Limits?

Sometimes people ask us about weight limits for our mattresses, especially parents who want to sit or lean on their child’s mattress for a bedtime story. Our products do have recommended weight limits, so keep reading to find out more!

Crib Mattresses

While our crib mattresses provide firm support for babies and toddlers, they do not support the weight of parents. In terms of baby weight limits for these models, our lightweight and innerspring models can typically withstand about 50 pounds.

Also, be sure to note that while the crib mattresses do feature reinforced edges that will hold up when baby starts to stand or bounce slightly, they still will not withstand repeated high-impact jumping.

Kids Mattresses

Since we design our kids’ mattresses for every stage of your growing child’s life, we also design them to support different weight limits. Our twin mattresses have a 325 pound weight limit, our full mattresses 450 pounds, and our queens 550 pounds. When choosing which mattress size is best for your child now and in the future, be sure to consider these weight limits.

Adult Mattresses

If you are in the market for a twin, full, or queen adult mattress, the weight limits for these models are the same as that of our kids’ mattresses in these sizes. If you are looking to stretch out a bit more in a king or California king, reference the weight limit of our queen mattresses. Our king and California king mattresses have the same coil strength as our queen mattresses, so they also have the same weight limit of 550 pounds

Foundations

Weight limit questions go beyond just our mattresses. We also hear questions about our foundations. Overall, our foundations are designed to support the weight of the mattress plus the maximum weight of the sleeper(s).

Additional Tips

In general, the heavier you are, the more you will press into your bed, and that is why most manufacturers will recommend a firm bottom support for you. If you still prefer a softer top, try one of our pillow top options so you can have layers of support while still having the softer feel you enjoy. Our EOS Pillow Top is a great option because of the ability to customize your comfort and support.
