Let’s Talk Breathability For Baby

Let’s Talk Breathability For Baby | Naturepedic Blog

The Naturepedic story began when a grandpa & Board Certified Engineer, our co-founder Barry Cik, wanted a safer crib mattress for his first grandson. So when we say that we take safety seriously, you know that we mean it.

There are many things to consider when creating a safe place for babies to sleep, and we go the extra mile to make sure it’s done correctly. Unlike some crib mattresses, Naturepedic designs a breathable baby mattress the right way.

There are two ways to make a breathable mattress. One way is to remove the waterproofing and to have baby breathe into the interior of the mattress. The problem with this approach is that urine, bigger messes, vomit, and even just spilled milk will also go through the non-waterproof surface and get into the interior. The baby will be breathing into this contaminated space.

The better design is to have a breathable pad that’s fully breathable for the baby but where the breathable pad can be removed and easily washed and dried. With this design, the baby gets complete breathability and hygienic conditions as well.

Take a look at the infographic below as we break down how we do the Ultra-Breathable 2-Stage Organic Crib Mattress the right way.
