Every year, the third Friday in May is Endangered Species Day, and this year Naturepedic is inviting everyone to engage in wildlife conservation … with cuddles!

We’re excited to unveil our collection of Organic Stuffed Animals designed to connect hearts of all ages to the wild creatures we share our beautiful planet with. Each plush friend has a story, personality and promise to support wildlife conservation through a partnership with Wildlife Conservation Network.

Join us in celebrating the wild creatures we share the wild world with!

What is Endangered Species Day?

Since 2006, people across the globe have celebrated Endangered Species Day annually thanks to the Endangered Species Coalition. It serves as a reminder that we rely on wildlife and need to ensure that plants, animals and entire ecosystems exist for future generations.

Endangered Species Day is a day to learn about and take action to protect threatened and endangered species – whether by attending an Endangered Species Day event, planting a pollinator garden or supporting conservation by cuddling one of our organic cotton stuffed animals. Every action, no matter how big or small, helps build a legacy respect for the natural world.

How Stuffed Animals Can Help Educate and Empower Kids

Stuffed animals are soft, cuddly companions, sure. But they can also help to inspire a lifelong connection to the natural world in your child. Through your child's love of their own stuffed animals, parents have a chance to educate them about protecting real animals in the wild. Instead of just giving your child cute stuffed animals, you can create backstories for the animals and turn them into teachable moments. And they can feel good about their actions too!

Here are four ways plush animals can help inspire our next generation of planet protectors.

Igniting Curiosity and Imagination

Toys can spark a child’s imagination, allowing them to create vibrant stories. As kids engage in imaginative play, they naturally explore the behaviors, habitats and mysteries of the wild. It makes the abstract concept of nature more accessible to them.

Fostering Empathy and Compassion

By giving endangered species a friendly face and personality, stuffed animals can nurture empathy and compassion. When a kiddo hugs Wade the Whale or snuggles up with Bailey the Bear, they form a personal connection to the animal, making the challenges these creatures face feel real. This tangible bond helps kids better understand the threats to wildlife while encouraging them to express their own emotions and care for all living things.

Promoting Environmental Awareness and Stewardship

Naturepedic's plush toys serve as ambassadors to the kingdom of wildlife. Each stuffed animal comes with an educational booklet filled with fun facts about the species, details on their endangered status and simple actions kids can take to help protect and defend the animal and their wild home. This transforms playtime into an opportunity for learning and plants the seed for responsible environmental stewardship when they grow up.

Inspiring Future Conservationists

By turning their cuddles into an act of conservation, the stuffed animals empower kids to see themselves as active participants in wildlife protection. The joy of play combines with the knowledge that their favorite toy supports real world conservation efforts to inspire a new generation of animal advocates. With every hug, children learn that small, tangible actions can help protect our planet and its biodiversity.

Together, it’s a holistic experience where play, learning and conservation exist to help nurture happier children and a brighter future for wildlife around the world. And it’s a great way to engage people of all ages as well – because who doesn’t love a cuddly companion? Just look at their faces!

Let’s Get to Know the Animals!

It’s time to officially introduce our wild friends! Each plush animal in our new collection is inspired by a real life species facing threats to their environment and existence. Let’s meet our stuffed animals!

Wild Friends of the Oceans

Our Oceanic ambassadors, Wade the Whale and Terry the Turtle, face the dangers of human fishing and the destruction of their habitats. Wade and Terry remind us that marine ecosystems are delicate and reinforce the importance of not littering, limiting our plastic usage and preventing pollution.

Wild Friends of the Forests

Our forest friends, Bailey the Bear and Sunny the Sloth, deal with the effects of deforestation and the loss of their wild homes. Bailey and Sunny remind us of the importance of recycling paper, opting for recycled products and fighting against rapid deforestation around the globe.

Wild Friends of the Polar Regions

Our chilly companions, Puddles the Penguin and Perry the Polar Bear, face the challenge of melting glaciers caused by climate change. Puddles and Perry remind us of the importance of reducing our carbon footprint, reducing greenhouse gases and conserving energy.

Wild Friends of the Savanna

Our gentle giants, Hadley Hippo and Elliot Elephant, face deforestation and other negative effects of human development like overgrazing by livestock and buildings and roads encroaching onto their wild homes. Hadley and Elliot remind us to respect the land of wildlife and prevent human overconsumption.

Naturepedic x Wildlife Conservation Network: A Collaboration for the Animals

The best part of our Organic Stuffed Animals? We're donating 10% of every stuffed animal purchase to the Wildlife Conservation Network. Through this initiative, we hope we can help inspire a new generation of conservationists and advocates for the wild world. It’s an excellent way to celebrate Endangered Species Month – or any month, if you're a wildlife lover like us!
