If you choose to launder at home, machine wash warm with a mild detergent on delicate cycle in a machine without a center agitator. Do not use bleach or fabric softener. Repeat rinse cycle an additional 1-2 times to ensure the detergent is completely removed. Dry using low heat well beyond the point where the outer fabric feels dry so the inner down clusters will be fully dry (can take 3-4 cycles). No iron.

Down Duvet Insert FAQs

A duvet insert, sometimes called a comforter, is the inner layer of a bedding set, often filled with materials like wool, down, or cotton, and designed to provide warmth, loft, and insulation. You can use this organic comforter alone or pair it with a duvet cover, which protects the insert and allows you to easily change the look and feel of your bedding.

Our lightweight down duvet insert option has less fill and is ideal for warmer climates, hot sleepers, or anyone who prefers a lighter layer. The all-season option has more fill for balanced year-round warmth and a fuller, fluffier look.

Fill power measures the loft and insulating ability of down. A higher fill power means larger, fluffier down clusters that create exceptional warmth without adding excess weight. Premium 750 fill power down is supremely fluffy and higher in quality than most down duvets, delivering luxurious loft and cozy warmth while remaining light, airy, and breathable.

Down and kapok are both soft, lightweight comforter fills. Down offers a fluffy, cloudlike feel with excellent insulation, while kapok is a naturally silky plant fiber that provides similar airy comfort with a vegan fill. If you love the classic feel of down but prefer a plant-based option, kapok is an excellent alternative.

For best results, we recommend professional laundering (not dry cleaning) once or twice a year. If you choose to wash your down duvet at home, use a front-loading washing machine or one without a center agitator and wash warm on the delicate cycle with a mild detergent. Do not use bleach or fabric softener, and run one or two extra rinse cycles to ensure all detergent is removed. Tumble dry on low heat until down clusters inside are completely dry. This may take 3-4 drying cycles. Do not iron.
