Yes.
Do I need a waterproof mattress protector?
Since the mattress itself is waterproof, all messes can be cleared up by wiping the mattress clean with water and/or soap. However, it is recommended that you use an organic crib mattress protector underneath the sheet for added convenience. When it's 3 AM, it's nice to be able to just throw a pad in the wash and go back to sleep:)
